With Grantown’s new £4.5 million care home for older people due to open within months, care home provider Parklands is holding an open day in the town to give potential staff a chance to meet the team.
Staff from the company will be on hand to answer any questions from local residents who may be interested in working in the care facility, or who simply want to find out more about the new care home.
Around 50 full and part time jobs are available, with staff offered flexible family friendly hours and career development opportunities.
A variety of roles are available for nurses, shift leaders, carers, cooks and pantry assistants, laundry and domestic assistants, an activities coordinator and handyperson. Some roles require night shift working.
Meanwhile, Parklands has announced that the new care home will be called Lynemore. The name originates from the croft where managing director Ron Taylor’s grandmother lived on the Ballindalloch Estate.
Construction work is due to finish in June with the new care home scheduled to open in August.
Parklands managing director Ron Taylor said: “We have had a tremendous response from the local community and we are really excited at the prospect of opening a new care home in the Grantown. It is a town that holds special memories for me and my family.
“We are making a substantial investment in Grantown for the long term, with new jobs for local people, more business for local suppliers and, crucially, a care facility for older people that Grantown deserves.”
Elaine McIntosh, Parklands operations director joined the company 20 years ago as an invoice clerk. Today she has overall responsibility for the running of the group’s seven care homes and its 500 employees.
She said: “One of the great strengths of Parklands is that we don’t simply offer jobs, we offer careers. Whatever the role, there are long term career opportunities and a career structure that allows staff to learn new skills and move into new and more senior roles. There has been keen interest from local people about career opportunities at Lynemore and our open day will give prospective employees the chance to meet the Parklands team and find out more about working in the care sector.”
The open day will be held at the Grant Arms Hotel, Grantown, on Thursday 26 April, from 2-7pm.
